Day 15 :: Midway Thirty-One Giveaway

We have reached the mid-point in this series, so I wanted to take a day and do some 'maintenance' and host a little giveaway!

First of all, thank you for all the kind comments, both written and verbal, as I've been sharing with you about what GOD has done in my life over the past six months.

Secondly, there are a couple of blogs that I've been following this month as they write their own 31 series and I wanted to share those with you:

Chatting at the Sky, by Emily Peterson, is writing a series called Hush.

The Homemade Calling, by Mary Beth, is writing a series called Teaching Toddlers Theology.

Nesting Place, by Nester, is writing a series called Home, on Purpose.

A Holy Experience, by Ann Voskamp, is writing Crazy Joy.

I think you'll really enjoy all of these, and of course there are over 1000 other bloggers participating in this series, and you can find all of those links over at Nester's site.

I've also been slowly working on trying to update my Facebook page more frequently, so if you'd like to see some peeks of projects and recipes that will coming up next month, go ahead and like my page over in the sidebar.

Now, for the giveaway!

My older sister recently started selling Thirty-One products, so I purchased something from her this summer and LOVE it!  I also got a little something to give to one of you.  I thought this was an appropriate giveaway this month, given that we are in a 31 series!

I'm giving away one small thermal tote--perfect for lunches or snacks to keep in the car.

One of the things that I've tried to keep as a habit in my Bible study over the years, is to read a Proverb each day.  There are 31 chapters in the book of Proverbs, so it's easy to read a chapter based upon the date.  This has really helped me in keeping truth in my heart, as repetition helps us to remember what we've learned.

Chapter 15 {today's chapter} is always convicting to me, and I love verse 4, which says,

"A gentle tongue is a tree of life."

May our speech be gentle today as we allow the truth of God's Word to drive our hearts.

  1. Proverbs 15:1 - "A soft answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger."

The Lord often brings to my mind that I am the only Jesus that many of my students see - how do they really see me?

  2. Proverbs 3:24 "When you lie down you shall not be afraid, when you lie down your sleep shall be sweet."

    1. Oops I didn't say why. Growing up my little brother had night terrors and every night my stepmom gathered all three of us kids into the girl's bedroom and we would pray together before bed. Each night Louis prayed that verse (my stepmom had taught it to him), and it's always stuck with me, especially during times of stress, sorrow and trouble.

  4. i'm liking this series, Lauren! thanks for being so vulnerable and sharing the truth that you're learning. i know God will supply the strength you need! ps 31 is great! i love this proverb (1:7) "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction." If we want to be wise we have to seek God's kind of wisdom, not what we think is right.

  5. Proverbs 10:19- "when words are many, sin is not absent..."
I use this to remind myself not to talk so much! :)

  6. Proverbs 11:25 "Those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed." I always think of this verse when I'm feeling drained/not too excited about pouring into people or developing meaningful conversation. It IS refreshing to be one who refreshes others!

  7. My favorite verses from Proverbs aren't really "proverbs" if that makes sense! lol But they are Proverbs 30:8-9: "...Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, 'Who is the Lord?' Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God." These verses have encouraged me time and again when we struggle with our budget and finances. God has ALWAYS been faithful to provide money when we need it - sometimes in the most amazing ways!

So glad to have found you on the web last year! This is such a fun giveaway! :)

  8. Proverbs 17:22 "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones." It reminds me that no matter how tough things get or how frustrated I may become, I can't let it weigh on me. I need to learn to let it go and be happy!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  10. Proverbs 4:23
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it

  11. Proverbs is a well-worn book in my Bible, and it was so hard to pick just one because they're all so good!
Proverbs 19:20-21 "Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise. Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails"
This one reminds me that I can't control everything or do it all by myself...even though I often try to.
