Today I just have a simple question for you. I need some help! The
drapes I made for my dining room last summer are a bit too short,
I think. People have varying opinions on drapery length, so I realize this is ultimately a matter of opinion. However, I can't decide if I should change these or not. Should I lengthen them or leave them??
I have some white fabric already that I will use to add material to the bottom, if I go the route of lengthening, so it won't cost me anything, just some time. I'll need to move the hardware up a few inches above in order to do this. What do you think?
Thanks for your help!
If you want an honest answer, I say yes absolutely lengthen it will add a whole new dimension and feel to them, to me they are a little short. I think adding a band of fabic on the bottom is an excellent idea! Good luck....pretty fabric.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...I could see where you would want them longer but they do look fine like this...keeps them out of the way when you vacuum!
ReplyDeleteLengthen :) You need a little 'puddle' on the floor.
ReplyDeleteI have never been a fan of the pile of drapes on the floor. My perfectionist side sees it as curtains hung too low or bought/made too long. I think they are perfect as is. =) I love your blue color scheme by the way!
ReplyDeleteLengthen :)
ReplyDeletelengthen! :)
ReplyDeleteSeem only a little short, but if you hadn't asked, noone would look at the drapes and say, "Those drapes look too short!" Any way you could let out a little hem and move the hardware down?? The practical side of me says drapes too long get in the way of the vacuum, and white at the bottom will get dirty.
ReplyDeleteYou could cut a few inches off the bottom, then sew in a white stripe towards the bottom, then re-attach the cut off piece. Bonus it will already be hemmed. Or I like the idea of a wide white stripe on the bottom.
ReplyDeleteLengthen them but can you do the white at the top?? I think the white will look very pretty but I think they will get dirty.
ReplyDeleteHonestly ... since you're asking ... I'm over the whole "puddle on the floor" thing. And I'm a practical girl, so especially with children and a dog - and the hassle when you vacuum, always having to adjust ... they look lovely and I would have never thought them too short. If you're wanting to change the look, go for it, but they do not need changing in my opinion :)
ReplyDeleteI say lengthen - not a huge amount but I like mine to have a little extra. I like the suggestion of adding the white to the top!
